The Foundation for Applied Psychiatric Anthropology

Our Mission at FAPA:

  • to incubate new initiatives that connect researchers, clinicians, policy makers, and community members in the service of reducing suffering from mental illness, broadly defined.

  • to educate mental health practitioners and the lay public about the social and cultural dimensions of mental illness.

  • to generate culturally-appropriate treatment approaches grounded in both theory and praxis.

  • to collaborate with individuals and families by providing low-fee clinical services to diverse populations in the St. Louis, MO metro region (where FAPA is located).
